David Williams
Senior Business Consultant
David is a Senior Consultant with Kleinhardt Business Consultants, having been employed with the firm for over three years.
He is a Chartered Accountant and was previously employed by the leading accounting firm in Australia for 4 years. David also has qualifications in Commerce and International Business which includes strong skills in the Thai language and culture obtained through an exchange program. David has performed a number of business planning and financial modelling projects for our clients over the past.
David was responsible for Kleinhardt’s work with the FNQ ACC and the preparation of the 2006 Regional Strategic Plan for the Far North Queensland Sugar Industry. He conducted significant research into the 2006 sugar season and held discussions with a range of stakeholders including farmers, harvesters and mills, as well as additional industry stakeholders such as Canegrowers, to conduct the review of the financial model of the entire industry for the 2006 season.
David has extensive experience in cash flow forecasting, financial modelling and analysis, taxation and accounting, acquired through his experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
David’s experience relates to a number of industries ranging from agriculture, mining and construction, aviation, and small to medium sized enterprises.
Since being employed with Kleinhardt, David has undertaken a number of business advisory projects as the lead consultant. His capabilities have focused on the provision of market research and analysis, business plan development, feasibility studies, cash flow and financial forecasts and modelling, business case development and the commercialisation of new and emerging technologies.
Prior to being employed with Kleinhardt, David completed his Diploma of Chartered Accountant through PricewaterhouseCoopers in Brisbane and Cairns. During the completion of this qualification, David was able to gain skills in accounting and finance, incorporating taxation issues, financial reporting, audit requirements, corporate governance, strategic business management, financial analysis and ratio analysis, and corporate finance. He was able to apply these skills during his time with PricewaterhouseCoopers in long-term projects with Boeing and Downer EDI, a diverse engineering and mining company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Indigenous Community Engagement
Since commencing employment with Kleinhardt, David has undertaken a number of indigenous projects relating to economic and business development. These include the following:
- Working with the WCCCA trusts to prepare business plans, financial forecasts and viability recommendations for proposed businesses in earth moving, fishing charters, four wheel drive hire and rentals, and timber milling.
- Providing assistance to Cam Charlton in the Central West Aboriginal Corporation’s tourism business scoping and feasibility study project.
- Preparation of a business plan and financial forecasts for the Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre in Cardwell.
- Working with the Torres Strait Islands Regional Council to assess the financial viability and sustainability of a number of Island based enterprises on Poruma and Masig Islands. This involved on-site community consultation and investigation of existing businesses to determine their financial viability in the event of divestment by the Council. It also involved the development of strategies to improve community ownership and increase chances for ongoing financial viability and long term sustainability.
