SME Case Studies
- Kleinhardt was asked to provide options for significant fund raising by a company who wished to build a supermarket on land it owned. The various funding sources were analysed and the Board of the company accepted Kleinhardt's recommendation. The company subsequently asked Kleinhardt to produce the Business Plan and other documentation required to raise this capital from a public and private offering as well as a financial institution.
- Kleinhardt constructed a defence strategy for the Board of a company under threat of takeover by an unrelated organisation. Kleinhardt's strategy was successful in repelling the bid.
- Kleinhardt was retained to promote and co-ordinate "Australian Tourism Resources", a tourism industry business network targeted at tourism industry development in offshore destinations. Kleinhardt identified opportunities in Brunei, Saudi Arabia, China and Vietnam which ultimately secured work for local organisations.
- Kleinhardt was instrumental in the design, development and ongoing management and operation of a national tourism industry credit bureau on behalf of the Inbound Tour Organisation of Australia (ITOA) . Kleinhardt, on behalf of the Investment Promotion Authority of Papua New Guinea, undertook the Integrated Investment Profiling Program (IIPP) to develop pre-feasibility studies, business and market plans for proposed enterprises including:

- Kleinhardt facilitated the Department of State Development's monthly CEO Enterprise Development Groups. These groups, each comprising 15 CEOs from a diverse range of industry, provided a platform for discussion and resulted in the generation of common business, management and regional economic development interests.
- Kleinhardt successfully redesigned and implemented a new financial and management accounting system and procedures for a major regional retailing chain.
- Kleinhardt was asked to conduct a feasibility study for the development of a 260 unit retirement village for a developer.
- Kleinhardt formulated a business and marketing plan for commercial builders who were facing significant challenges with interstate competition. This resulted in new directions and a succession plan involving skills transfer to the next generation in a formal and disciplined way.
- Kleinhardt was retained to conduct a business appraisal and strategic plan for an agri-business developer who was suffering liquidity difficulties because of growth. This plan identified a restructure which would provide several areas of savings and efficiencies.
- Kleinhardt was retained by a local legal practice to provide a strategic and business plan. This plan targeted growth and resulted in several acquisitions in Townsville and Brisbane making it the largest legal firm in the State.
- Kleinhardt was selected to create a Cyclone Larry Business Recovery Plan for a Bed & Breakfast accommodation facility. Through discussions with the client, Kleinhardt was able to identify additional future business opportunities to increase the overall profitability of the operation.
- Kleinhardt was selected to create a Business Plan for a consultancy business that was primarily involved in the disability sector but had a desire to broaden its target market and also concentrate on the corporate sector in the Far North Queensland. Kleinhardt initiated preliminary contact with potential strategic alliances for the business and then arranged and accompanied the client to several appointments to identify relationship and collaboration opportunities.
